The new report “Local Public Finances and the Governance of SDGs: Insights from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bordeaux and Hamburg” is the first concrete result of the European SLPF project, which aims to make sustainability considerations an integral part of decision-making and public financial management.
The project focuses on developing the foundations for SDG Budgeting within local governance systems – aligning public finance with the Sustainable Development Goals.
This first report assesses the current systems in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bordeaux, and Hamburg, analysing their political, legal, strategic and institutional frameworks for integrating the SDGs into local budgets.
This project is funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument, and implemented by Expertise France, KDZ – Centre for Public Administration Research, and I4CE – Institute for Climate Economics, in cooperation with the European Commission.
