Flood management

Municipalities play an important role in flood management. They take on numerous budget-relevant tasks, both in the event of a disaster and in the area of prevention. As part of a research project funded by the Climate Fund, the role of municipalities in flood management and the expected future effects of climate change were examined in more detail. Based on three case studies of Schwertberg, Ansfelden and Vöcklabruck, an in-depth analysis of the flood events and the associated financial consequences for the communities was carried out. The question of the sustainability of flood protection measures was also examined in depth. The study concludes with recommendations for further development of flood management.
